New saunas are opening across the country. We're here to build the standards, education, and connections the industry needs.
Sauna is growing quickly in Australia, part of a broader shift toward recovery, preventative health, and social connection. New operators are opening across the country: bathhouses, beachside trailers, community wellness spaces, even floating sauna boats. Public interest keeps rising, from media coverage to Google search trends.
But growth like this brings its own challenges. Operators face unclear permitting pathways, inconsistent regulations, limited public education, and no real industry standards or representation. It became clear that Australia needed a national body to help guide this growth.
The Australian Sauna Association is the national body for sauna in Australia. We continue the work started by the Australian Sweat Bathing Association (ASBA), which began as a grassroots effort to support Australia's growing sauna community. That work has grown into an organisation supporting the country's sauna network: operators, builders, suppliers, researchers, and sauna lovers.
Through events, education, advocacy, and collaboration, we're helping sauna culture in Australia grow sustainably. We're also leading the growth of Aufguss in Australia, the ritual art of pouring water and scent over hot stones, and building the national pathway to the Aufguss World Championships.

Sauna Aid is a global initiative bringing sauna relief to communities in crisis, using portable heat and steam to support recovery, wellbeing, and connection where it's needed most. As a not-for-profit, the ASA donates a minimum of 3% of gross revenue to Sauna Aid, supporting their vital work.
